Welcome

A home rebuilt after the Great Fire.

Created for a prosperous silk merchant and his household, the building carries the colour, craft and ambition of late 17th-century life.

Conservation is still unfolding. Visitors see both beautifully restored rooms and the patient research behind them—from original painted decoration to domestic objects, furniture and archival discoveries.
