Privacy

Privacy policy.

How information is collected, used and protected.

The Merchant’s House (Marlborough) Trust is committed to handling personal information fairly, securely and transparently.

Information you provide

This website does not submit form data to a website database. Contact, volunteering, newsletter and booking-request forms prepare a message in your own email application. The Trust receives information only when you choose to send that email. Secure donation and membership links open services operated by Beacon and Stripe, whose own privacy notices apply.

Information the Trust may receive

  • Your name, contact details and the content of an enquiry.
  • Visit, event, membership or donation information supplied through an approved service.
  • Communication preferences where you ask to receive updates.
  • Technical security logs supplied by the hosting provider.

How information is used

  • To answer enquiries and administer visits, events, memberships or support.
  • To meet legal, accounting, safeguarding and security obligations.
  • To send communications you have requested and allow you to unsubscribe.
  • To improve services and protect the Trust, visitors and website.

Lawful bases

Depending on the purpose, processing may be necessary to perform a contract, comply with a legal obligation, pursue the Trust’s legitimate interests, or act on your consent.

Sharing and international processing

Information is not sold. It may be shared with contracted service providers, professional advisers or public authorities where necessary and lawful. Providers must protect the information they handle. Some providers may process data outside the United Kingdom using legally recognised safeguards.

Retention and security

Information is kept only as long as needed for the purpose collected and any legal or operational requirements. Proportionate technical and organisational measures are used to reduce the risk of unauthorised access, loss or disclosure.

Your rights

You may have rights to access, correct, erase or restrict your information, object to some processing, withdraw consent and complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office. Rights depend on the circumstances and are subject to legal exemptions.
