Our plan 2026–2028

Our plan for 2026–2028.

A practical direction for conservation, visitors, participation, income, governance and organisational capability.

Four strategic themes

The plan should translate into named actions, measures, owners and review dates.

Museum development

Strengthen collections care, research, exhibitions and the role of Marlborough Museum.

Visitor experience

Improve practical planning, interpretation, accessibility, learning and reasons to return.

Fundraising & sustainability

Grow unrestricted income, Friends, partnerships and reliable operating support.

Governance & capability

Develop people, systems, risk management, evidence and organisational resilience.

Accountability

From priorities to delivery

The Trust should publish a concise annual progress update showing what changed, what was delayed, key measures, financial context and the next decisions. Material claims should link to an approved source and be assigned a review date.

The £30,000 Heritage Fund development award provides an opportunity to test and refine parts of this plan, but the Trust will continue to need visitor, supporter and partner income.

Delivery framework

Commitments, owners and review points.

This public summary is reviewed quarterly and reported annually. Formal decisions remain subject to trustee approval and published records.

2026

Establish the baseline

Owner: Trustees and staff leads.

Confirm measures for collections care, visitor experience, access, income and organisational risk.

2027

Test and improve

Owner: Museum, visitor and fundraising leads.

Use evidence from visitors, volunteers, partners and financial reporting to refine delivery.

2028

Report and renew

Owner: Board of Trustees.

Publish an end-of-period review and agree the next strategic cycle.
